Volunteer Opportunities
Construction Volunteering
7:30am-3:00pm | Ages 16+ | Tuesday – Saturday
Don a hard hat and swing a hammer on a home construction site.
Give back to our community while learning new skills and working in collaborative groups led by an experienced construction leader.
You’ll receive safety training from the site supervisor, as well as hands-on training throughout the day. No experience is necessary! Activities may include framing, roofing, installing trim and cabinets, painting, and more.
Here are answers to questions we hear the most:
- How many people can I bring?
- Is there a cost associated with a build day?
- Is there a minimum age to participate?
A typical build day includes up to 15-20 volunteers. Options for larger groups are available with additional planning and resources. Please contact us using the form at the bottom of this page and a Habitat staff member will reach out to help you customize a build day to meet your goals.
We suggest a donation of $5,000 for an exclusive build day for your group. This donation goes towards the cost of the build materials and provides affordable homeownership opportunities for our Knoxville neighbors. Contact us through the form below to begin a conversation regarding partnership specifics that can be crafted to your needs.
Yes. The minimum age to volunteer on a construction site is 16 years old. Volunteers under the age of 18 are restricted from using ladders or power tools.
ReStore Volunteering
Full and Half-Day Shifts | Ages 14+ | Tuesday – Saturday
The ReStore is Knoxville Habitat’s thrift store where donated/purchased materials are sold and profits go to fund our mission. The ReStore is a critical piece of the funding puzzle and — with your help — allows us to maximize our impact across Knoxville.
Activities may include store organization, donation intake, furniture assembly, and customer service.
Here are answers to questions we hear the most:
- How many people can I bring?
- Is a donation required to volunteer at the ReStore?
- Is there a minimum age to participate?
Volunteer group capacity varies depending on ReStore location, but we can typically accommodate groups of up to 15 volunteers per day.
We ask that participating groups make a donation of $3,000 to help financially support the ongoing construction of new Habitat homes in Knox County.
Yes. Participants must be at least 14 years old to volunteer at the ReStore. Minors under the age of 15 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian — if arranging a group activity, please note this on the contact form below so we can arrange a youth activity.
