Repairs Today Protect Homeownership Tomorrow

Critical Home Repair preserves affordable homeownership opportunities by addressing critical issues like failing roofs, or non‑functioning heat and air-conditioning that can put families at risk. We work alongside homeowners to plan the scope, coordinate skilled work, and complete repairs that keep people safe, stable and at home.

By taking on big‑ticket items like reroofs and full HVAC replacements, Knoxville Habitat restores a safe, habitable foundation for the home. Once major health and safety hazards are resolved, partner organizations can step in with additional work such as accessibility ramps, grab bars and bathroom modifications. Many of these improvements cannot proceed when a home is uninhabitable. Your gift makes that next layer of support possible, multiplying impact for local homeowners.

Cindy’s Story

Cindy has lived in her Knoxville home for 35 years. When rotten wood and clogged gutters made the exterior unsafe and hard to maintain, she worried about climbing a ladder after knee replacements and felt embarrassed to invite people over. Partnering with Knoxville Habitat through Critical Home Repair, crews replaced failing trim, installed leaf guard protection, and addressed safety concerns so Cindy no longer has to climb to clear gutters. Today, she is planning gatherings again and feels proud of her home. Your GivingTuesday gift helps neighbors like Cindy stay safe, warm and independent, with repairs completed alongside homeowners and focused on long-term stability.

There are people out there that unfortunately can’t afford to keep their nice homes. But, they don’t want to disgrace the neighborhood. They want to be proud of their homes. And without this donation, without this help we would not be able to be here. And so by the grace of you all, of donating it’s really really appreciated. I want to thank everybody who has contributed to this program and how it’s benefited me and now I can be proud of my home.
